Welcome to Streetknit

Hello and welcome to the Streetknit website.  Thanks for coming to check us out!

The project started at the suggestion of my partner after I dragged him to yet another yarn sale.  My stitch’n bitch thought it was a great idea and thus a plan was born.  So far we’ve had some great support from the knitting community.  Knit-O-Matic, The Naked Sheep and The Knit Café have all volunteered to be drop off zones for your donated knitwear and the Toronto Craft Alert mentioned us in their May 29 posting.

What we really need though is a bit of your time, talent and yarn to create an item of clothing to keep someone warm this winter.  Sweaters, scarves, socks, mittens, hats or whatever else you can think of will all be very welcome to someone who has no place to come in from the cold.  Over the next few months we’ll be talking to outreach programs in the Toronto area to make sure these items get to the people who need them most.  And remember, there are men, women and children out there with no place to go, so any size or style you can think of will fit someone.  We’ll be knitting as fast as we can this summer, but we can’t do it alone!

If you have any suggestions or would like to help please email us; we’d love to hear from you!

    Hi Glenda,
All of our drop off sites are listed on the left hand side of the main page for Streetknit. Hopefully you’ll find one near to you!
Thanks for your support of Streetknit.
